I agree with supporting smart home systems. But the best request is for them to make a ZWave version of the Flic, this would support Animus, SmartThings, and many other smart home systems.

This can be done on Android, but iOS would not let us do that.

I feel like you could probably do this with the Tasker integration. I don't have a lot of experience with Tasker. But you can probably set it up to run a timer for X amount of time, and every time the Flic is pressed, it resets the Tasker timer. When the timer runs to zero, it performs some sort of action, you could even integrate it with IFTTT as well.

I don't work for them, but I have Osram Lightify bulbs...and although it does not support it directly, you can do this through IFTTT.

You can already do this, you can have multiple configs and switch between them.

Not sure it this support was added later on, but you can do this with unified remote. Works great, I use it at home. I have netflix, hulu, plex, and vlc on my computer, so I set all of those up as toggle play pause...Since I only ever have one of those open at a time, it works great and works like a universal remote.

Completed for Android

That would be pretty cool. A pre-loaded flic...seems useful for like tech support consultants and etc. In the tech industry, I could see this being useful to have in a server room.
Though the fact that it has to be connected to a phone seems like it's a set back. Would be nice if there was a wifi version like the Amazon dash button, where once it's pressed it can (like you said) send a text or an email requesting a callback.

However, I also believe that conditional buttons are also necessary, for local events. Like, when the phone rings, then the buttons quickly switch to the phone call config, and then when the phone call is over, it switches back to the original config it was last on. This is not my idea, someone else thought of it first, so go find their post.

They currently offer an SDK to get Raspberry Pi to work with Flic, so I don't see why they couldn't get it to work with SmartThings once SmartThings opens up support for BT LE devices.
