It would be cool if users could define a week schedule for each button to determine when it is in power-saving standby mode, and when it is more reactive (e.g. Standby from 00:00 to 06:30, and 08:30 to 16:30 on weekdays, ...).

Even better: Divide the week into intervals and feed logging of the button presses into a statistical function that can be used to evaluate the likelihood of a button press to be executed during an interval, so as to dynamically 'wake up' or standby each button based on whether there's a chance the user might click it or not.
